Charlie Schwan, an independent filmmaker from Austin, TX, wrote and directed a short-film titled "The Goodnight Show" which was recently selected to be featured at the up-coming 2018 TriBeCa Film Festival.

The film's soundtrack is entirely Staehely-written, comprised of four songs by Al and one song by his son, Christian. It includes three unreleased songs by Al—"Mercy of the Moon," "Wish I'd Said Be Happy," and "Long Legged Woman"— which were written and recorded during Al's career as a solo-artist in the 1970s. "Wish I'd Said Be Happy" features the legendary vocalist group, The Blackberries.
